MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University office support specialist Amy Clayton, of the Business Advising Center, has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for November.

Clayton was hired as an extra help clerk in management and marketing in September 2012. In January 2013, she was hired as an extra help clerk in the Business Advising Center and in April 2013, she moved to an office support specialist position in the same office.

According to Clayton's nominator, she always displays a positive attitude and is always willing to help anyone seeking help.

"You went above and beyond recently when finding a way to make the office run smoothly when someone was struggling with an injury," said the nominator. "You took the time to teach the student workers in depth how to step in and help with job duties. You are a calming influence and handle student issues professionally and accurately."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Alisha Looney at AA-Looney@wiu.edu.
