MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois University Development Office Accountant III Christie Weishaar, has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for October.

Weishaar was hired at WIU in September 2010 and she was reclassified to Accountant II in April 2011. She was reclassified to her current position in May 2012.

According to Weishaar's nominator, she is always willing to help others and strives to make processes in the office more efficient.

"Recently a lot of extra duties fell upon Christie while someone was out," her nominator said. "She handled it all with precision and good judgment, and Christie really stepped up to the plate. During stressful times, she is always patient, pleasant and helpful and looks at the bright side of every situation. Christie is crucial to the operation of the department.

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Alisha Looney at AA-Looney@wiu.edu.
