MACOMB, IL – Tiffany Erickson, an office support specialist in the physics department, has been named the Western Illinois University Al & Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for December.

Erickson was hired at WIU in March 2011. According to her nominator, she "greets each faculty, staff or student entering the office with a welcoming smile."

"She is always willing to decorate our office with themes that promote our programs," the nominator said. "For many current students coming to and potential students visiting this department, Tiffany is the first face that they see, and her welcoming smile and helpful attitude helps ease their minds and gives them an instant connection to our department."

Erickson has also taken several groups of international graduate students to cultural events on her own time, as well as to some athletic events to help integrate them into the University culture.

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year awards. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque and a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year.

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) Public Relations Representative Wendi Mattson at WK-Mattson@wiu.edu.
