Damhoff named October Employee of the Month at WIU
October 10, 2012
MACOMB, IL – Jeffrey Damhoff, the webmaster in Electronic Student Services, has been named the Western Illinois University Al & Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for October.
Damhoff, who was hired in April 2007 as a web specialist II in Electronic Student Services, became the webmaster in January 2010.
According to his nominator, Damhoff "juggles many high demand tasks."
"He isn't afraid to try new methodologies and improve applications to make them better," his nominators said. "He is always willing to provide modifications to the websites to enable better access and usability."
Damhoff recently started a large project to convert the entire University credit card system to Paypal.
"This required an excessive amount of additional work beyond the normal workload of the position," his nominators said. "Despite working a lot of excess hours, he took everything in stride while providing good service and a good attitude."
While off work for his wedding, Damhoff continued to respond to e-mails and handled a pressing situation even though he was away from his office.
In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year awards. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque and $500 in Macomb Chamber of Commerce gift certificates for the Civil Service Employee of the Year.
Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) Public Relations Representative Wendi Mattson at WK-Mattson@wiu.edu.
