First Semester Prepayment Amount
ALL new international students must comply with our 2023-24 payment policy as outlined below.
DO NOT enter the USA on your WIU I-20 unless you plan to physically report to our campus for orientation. Students already in the US on another institution's I-20 and who are transferring to WIU must also physically report to orientation.
You are required to pay your first semester's tuition, fees, and insurance IN FULL in accordance with the estimates below prior to Orientation Day. This amount will not be the exact amount that you will owe or show on your STARS account. We advise that you prepay your tuition amount immediately after receiving your visa to avoid any technical glitches. We further advise you to begin that process immediately as there will be no exceptions to this rule.
New students will be eligible for installment plans in future semesters. However, first semester payment of tuition and insurance in full is required to avoid cancellation of your immigration status for failure to register. To avoid this, bring proof of payment (print the billing screen from your STARS account) to orientation.
If you can prove eligibility for a student health insurance waiver then the amount will be credited into your student account.
BELOW IS YOUR REQUIRED PAYMENT AMOUNT TO ENABLE COMPLIANCE WITH YOUR VISA:
UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
Undergraduate Students without Scholarships: $9,000
Undergraduate Students with Scholarships: Deduct half of your scholarship amount from $9,000
- Example: you received the $6,000 International Commitment Scholarship: You would pre pay $9,000 - $3,000 = $6,000
- Example: you received the $6,000 International Commitment Scholarship and the $3,000 UGRD: You would prepay $9,000 - $4,500 = $4,500
