Special Education to PEL Program Director

- Responsibilities:
A SPED Para to PEL Program Director typically:
- Provide supervision to the Program Mentors for the Special Education Para to PEL program.
- Review and develop training opportunities for Program Mentors.
- Provide resources for student support and review student feedback regarding Program Mentors.
- Provide guidance to paraprofessional students by: Reviewing their degree plans and course sequences; Supporting them with exam preparation materials; Ensuring courses align with Special Education and Culturally Responsive Teaching standards; Checking that online courses use effective teaching methods and are easy to use.
- Attend regular meetings: Collaborate with instructors, students, and the IESE to assess student needs; Coordinate with the Field and Clinical Experiences Coordinator; Discuss program needs with the Program Mentors; Evaluate how well the program meets student needs.
- Assist with recruitment for the Special Education Paraprofessional to PEL program by attending recruitment events and actively work to recruit incumbent workers.
- Required Qualifications:
CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER:
- Minimum of Master’s Degree in Special Education with Illinois PEL or Master’s Degree in related field with 5 years experience in supervision of Special Educators.
- Minimum 5 years classroom experience in Special Education (PK-22) or related field.
- Experience with Google Suite tools and other technology used to create presentations.
- Supervisory experience.
- Starting Salary: $4,529/month

This part-time (30%) position is a 9 month appointment.
