About the Artist

Ian Shelly is an Assistant Professor of Art (Ceramics) at Western Illinois University. He graduated with a BFA in ceramics from Texas Tech University and received his MFA from the University of Missouri. He teaches all levels of ceramics as well as 3D design.

Ian is an artist and educator utilizing all media and heritage in the canon of western art and craft. His background in ceramic vessel making and his interests in weapons manufacturing and childhood touchstones drives his subject matter toward humorous and sometimes haunting permutations and outcomes.
