About the Artist
Jan Clough is a Professor of Art at Western Illinois University. She came to WIU in 1991 after
earning an MFA from the University of Wisconsin Madison, and a BFA degree from Drake University, Des Moines, IA.
She currently teaches all levels of Drawing while also serving as the Academic Advisor to all studio art majors in the
Department of Art. Jan continues to work and exhibit in a variety of two-dimensional media with pencil and gouache drawing
being the main focus of her current work. She is a master draftsman, and frequent first-place or best-of-show prizewinner
in many regional and national exhibits. Her art is also included in a number of private collections. She co-authored a book
"Drawing: Skills, Means, Freedom", with Ann Mullin, Kendall/Hunt Publishing Company in 1995.
Jan is a native of Burlington, Iowa.
