Scholarship Facts and Figures

An ever-increasing number of donors support deserving students each year through the Western Illinois University Foundation Scholarship Program, and their gifts make a difference in the lives of thousands of students. In academic year 2015, the WIU Foundation distributed over 2.8 million in scholarship support to over 3,600 students.

The WIU Foundation Scholarship Program has grown to over 1,000 named scholarships that are awarded to deserving students on an annual basis. Generous individuals or their heirs who have chosen to perpetuate their families’ names and values by establishing a scholarship have laid the groundwork for what the Foundation Scholarship Program has become today.

A contribution of $25,000 perpetually funds an endowed scholarship and can be accomplished over a period time, and annual scholarships can be established through a minimum contribution of $500 a year. As a special tribute, donors and their scholarship recipients are recognized at the annual Scholarship Recognition Banquet each fall.
