Try-It! Illinois 2011
University Libraries is once again participating in the Try-It! Illinois 2011 program. Sponsored by Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White and the Illinois State Library, Try-It! Illinois 2011 is an annual state-wide database trial. From now until November 30, 2011 library users can access a multitude of different databases, covering a variety of subject areas free of charge.
To access the Try-It! Illinois 2011, visit our website at http://www.wiu.edu/library/databases/trials/ and then click on the title and that will take you to the Try-It! Illinois 2011 website. You will need to contact the Reference Desk at 309-298-2700 or through our Ask a Librarian page at http://www.wiu.edu/library/help/ to obtain the user name and password. The Illinois State Library has asked that we not mass distribute the user name and password. Once you have the user name and password you can log on and start reviewing the thousands of databases available. A complete list of databases can be found at http://www.finditillinois.org/tryit.
With the budget situation as it is, it is unlikely University Libraries will be purchasing any additional databases this fiscal year. However, we are extremely interested in your opinions and comments on any databases you sampled that we haven’t purchased. Please feel free to pass your suggestions on to Jeffrey Matlak, Electronic Resources Librarian at JG-Matlak@wiu.edu.
