Speech Pathology and Audiology
Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology
The Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology and a Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology. We also run an on-campus Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic which provides speech-language and audiological services to community members.
Undergraduate students in Speech Pathology and Audiology are usually planning ahead for careers as speech-language pathologists or audiologists. Both of these professions require graduate degrees. The undergraduate program at WIU provides students with the background to be successful in graduate school. Undergraduates complete coursework in the basic science behind typical and atypical communication, oral and written communication skills, and the foundations of clinical practice. Seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher in the major also have the opportunity to complete clinical experiences in our Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. GradTrac is available to Speech Pathology and Audiology majors.
The Master of Science (M.S.) education program in speech-language pathology {residential} at Western Illinois University is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard #310, Rockville, Maryland 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700.Graduate Program
