The Western Fire Protection Studies Club will be hosting a guest lecturer on Tuesday, February 24
Chief Joesph Henning will be presenting on the topic,  "Meeting Expectations: strategies for a  successful  probation and /or internship". In the presentation Henning will discuss how to conduct yourself, how to adapt to a new employment climate, how to present a positive attitude, and how to approach difficult situations. He will also conduct a question and answer period.  
This is an excellent opportunity for all future public safety employee's to prepare for that all important first phase of your future career.

Attention all Fire majors and minors

We are now taking student applications for the 2015 Gateway Fire Academy in Quincy. The academy consists of 3 - 40 hour residence courses held at the Quincy Fire Training Facility.  Completion qualifies students to challenge the OSFM Basic Fire Skills certification test. Each course yields 3 S.H. of WIU credit  (9 hours total)

Courses start on June 8 - 15 & 22

There will be an informational meeting with the Macomb Fire Chief on February 9 at 4:30 pm. The topic will be on joining MFD as an adjunct member

Fire Club News

Attention all; The fire club will be presenting a speaker on Tuesday, Feb 24 at 6:30 pm. Joe Henning, Quincy Fire Chief will speak on the topic of "Tactics for making your internship/probationary period a success" This is an important topic, lets have a good turn out! Admission is free.

The Fire protection Studies Club meets on the first and third Tuesday each month. Meeting are held in Stipes Hall at 6:30pm.  All students are welcome.
