"Violence in America" Lecture Series | Rocky Loves the 90's | Cohen Lecture | Save the Dates

"Violence in America" Lecture Series

To explore and highlight the consequences of violence in American society today, Western Illinois University's School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration (LEJA) is sponsoring the "Violence in America" lecture series, a six-part program that will provide a multi-faceted perspective on selected topics about and related to violence.

The series, which is offered as part of the School of LEJA's 40th anniversary celebration, began Tuesday, Sept. 23 and will run for five consecutive Tuesdays from 6:30-9 p.m. The first five programs will be held in the University Union Heritage Room; the sixth program will be held in the University Union Grand Ballroom.

Rocky Love's the 90's - Homecoming and Reunion 2008

Be sure to visit "The Right Place" and connect with WIU faculty and your fellow alumni during Homecoming 2008. Join Dean Bonnie Smith-Skripps '73 MA '74 ED SP '89 and other COEHS faculty and staff at the COEHS table to catch up on the current happenings of the College.

First Cheryl J. Cohen Lecture

The Department of Kinesiology invites you to the first Cheryl J. Cohen Lecture on Monday, October 20, 2008 at 7:00 pm. in Horrabin Hall Room 78. "Optimal Body Composition for Successful Aging in Women: Interventions to Reduce Competing Disease Risks," will be presented by Dr. Ellen Evans '87, a physical education alumnae. A reception will immediately follow in Horrabin Hall Room 1.

Dr. Evans, Ph.D., FACSM, is an associate professor at the University of Illinois in the Department  of Kinesiology & Community Health, with joint appointments in the Division of Nutritional Science & Deptartment of Internal Medicine, UI College of Medicine.

Alumni Programs, WIU Admissions and COEHS invite you to an Educational Networking event on Thursday, November 20 at McCormick and Schmick's Seafood Restaurant, One East Wacker Drive, Chicago. We hope you will consider joining us for a great networking opportunity, to visit with University staff about the Education experience at Western, and to discuss how we can recruit the best and brightest students to WIU. President Al Goldfarb; Dr. Bonnie Smith-Skripps, Dean of COEHS; Amy Spelman MS '98, Director of Alumni Programs; and Eric Campbell, Director of Admissions will be your hosts for this event. The Department of Educational Leadership invites attendees of the Joint Annual Conference of the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA) and Illinois Association of School Business Officials (IASBO) to a reception on Friday, November 21 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at McCormick and Schmick's Seafood Restaurant, One East Wacker Drive, Chicago. Appetizers will be provided.
