UUB Takes Over Union Basement

The University Union Board will take over the Union Basement on February 1. In conjunction with the University Housing and Dining Office's Experience Western event, WestFest will provide an evening's entertainment of free bowling, food, music, movies and more to introduce prospective students to activities at Western.

Todd CareyGreat live music will be performed at WestFest by Todd Carey, returning artist. Acclaimed for his hot-wire live performances, Carey has been hailed as a "talented musician with a lot of energy and an established following" (MTV Online). Touring heavily in support of his album, “Watching Waiting”, he has performed more than 100 shows in clubs, festivals and college campuses, opening for the aristocratic likes of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Jackson Browne, The Black Crowes, Trey Anastasio and Phil Lesh, Jason Mraz, Marc Broussard, G. Love & Special Sauce, Maroon 5 and more.

Free Admission Coffeehouse Series Starts February 13

February 13 kicks off the Free Admission Coffeehouse series with “Open Mic” night in the Union Basement Billiard Room venue beginning at 8:30 p.m. This evening showcases talented and/or brave Western students. From rapping to poetry; from guitarists to stand-up comedy, this well attended event always keeps the audience asking for more. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.

Join UUB at the Movies

Rocky HeadThe University Union Board Cinema committee provides ongoing second-run newer movies to the Western community. Shown in the Sandburg Theatre on the basement level of the union, the movie line-up for the rest of the semester has been set.  Admission is $2.00 for students with ID and $3.00 for public. Popcorn is available during most showings.

Here's the line-up for the rest of the semester.

January 31-February 3: 30 Days of Night
February 7-10: Enchanted
February 14 -17: The Notebook
February 21-24: August Rush
February 28-March 2: American Gangster
March 20 -23: I Am Legend
March 27-30: Sweeney Todd
April 3-6: Sicko (in conjunction with Minority Health Month)

*Dates and Titles subject to change by vendor

SHOWTIMES: THURSDAY 7 PM; FRIDAY 7 & 9 PM; SATURDAY 7 & 9 PM; SUNDAY 4 PM
