Fitness Registrations

Each semester, Campus Recreation offers a number of fantastic fitness services and programs which require advanced registration. Some of these services are absolutely FREE to student and Rec Center members! Use the links in the sections below to take advantage of these great services!

FREE Introduction to Cardio and Weight Equipment 

Are you new to our Campus Recreation facility or to working out, in general? A member of our Campus Recreation Personal Trainer staff will gladly help you feel comfortable with the proper set-up and usage of the cardio and weight equipment. 

Appointments are available during the Spencer Student Recreation Center's regular hours. Please complete the online Introduction to Cardio & Weight Equipment Registration Form to register. You will then be contacted by one of our trainers to schedule an appointment.

Note: Instruction and use of free weight equipment (barbells and dumbbells) is NOT included in this introduction.

FREE Fitness Consultation & Assessment

The purpose of a Fitness Consultation & Assessment is to discover your current physical and mental state, assess your health markers and body composition, and test where you are in terms of your fitness-related skills and abilities. After the consultation interview, our trainer will guide you through the three-step assessment process...BODY, MOVE, and WORK...

  1. BODY: This portion of the assessment consists of various measurements of health markers such as resting heart rate and blood pressure, as well as body fat and body part tape measurements.
  2. MOVE: During this part of the process, you will be asked to perform a series of simple stretches and movements, and the trainer will document your range of motion, look for asymmetries and imbalances, and monitor for discomfort or pain during those movements.
  3. WORK: The fun stuff! During this portion of the assessment, the trainer will assign you a series of assessments selected specifically for your individual goals and current skill level. These could include muscular strength, muscular endurance, core strength, aerobic capacity, and anaerobic threshold tests.

Personal Training

Visit here for additional Personal Training information . All new clients are provided one (1) free Fitness Consultation & Assessment that does not count toward your purchased sessions. Your trainer designs an exercise program specifically for you, your needs, and your goals based on your assessment results. A Spencer Student Recreation Center membership is not required to receive personal training..
