WIU School of Music Presenting Wind Ensemble Concert Saturday

MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University School of Music will present a Wind Ensemble Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.

The WIU Wind Ensemble, under the direction of WIU Professor of Music and Director of Bands Mike Fansler, and graduate conductor Morgan Miller, will perform works by Wagner, Sparke, Clifton Williams and Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F featuring pianist and Collaborative Piano Coordinator Po-Chuan Chiang.

This performance is open free for general audience seating and the performance will be live-streamed on the School of Music's YouTube channel and Facebook page.

PROGRAM:

Prelude to Act III from Lohengrin (1850/ca. 1970) - Richard Wagner (1813-1883)/trans. Mark Hindsley (1905-1999)

Sunrise at Angel's Gate (2001) - Phillip Sparke (b. 1951)

Caccia and Chorale (1976) - Clifton Williams (1923-1976)
- Miller, graduate conductor

INTERMISSION

Piano Concerto in F (1925/2016) - George Gershwin (1898-1937)/trans. Martin Jorge
- Chiang, piano
