From the WIU Office of Risk Management

Since we're returning from a holiday break in which many of us may have gotten together with friends and family, we encourage all members of our University community - even those who are vaccinated - to take a COVID-19 test this week at the Macomb or Quad Cities campuses test locations. With Finals Week right around the corner and with the rising cases of COVID-19 across the state, including in our counties, we want to ensure that our University community finishes the Fall 2021 semester healthy and strong before going home for the longer holiday break.

A reminder that individuals who are unvaccinated and who attend classes and/or work on either WIU campus (Macomb and Quad Cities) must take part in the required weekly testing.

Test Clinic Information

NOTE: No eating, drinking, smoking or brushing your teeth 60 minutes prior to testing

WIU-Macomb: 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Student Recreation Center MAC Gym (south gym). Individuals on the Macomb campus who must comply with the weekly test requirement can register in advance at bit.ly/WIUCOVIDTestRegistration or walk-in.

WIU-Quad Cities: 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesday; and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Riverfront Hall front desk.

Vaccine Clinics

A vaccine clinic, which includes booster shots (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and J & J), will be held in the University Union Sandburg Lounge on the Macomb campus from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7. Vaccine clinics will continue to be held on the Macomb campus in Spring 2022 for WIU students and employees.

Information can also be found at the McDonough County and Rock Island County health department at https://getyourcovidshot.com (McDonough) and https://richd.org (Rock Island).

In Macomb, the McDonough County Health Department will host vaccine clinics, which include Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and J & J boosters, at the former Farm King building on East Jackson Street from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursdays, Dec. 2, 9 and 16 and from 3-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17.

Statewide vaccine clinics can be found at bit.ly/WIUCOVID19VaxInfo.

Vaccine Card Upload

Students, faculty and staff who received a vaccine during the holiday break should upload their card at bit.ly/WIUVaxCardPortal in order to opt out of mandated testing. Students (undergraduate and graduate students, including graduate assistants and teaching assistants) should upload to the "Student" portal, while WIU employees should upload to the "Employee" portal.

If individuals do not wish to upload the information, the vaccination card can be presented at the following locations: WIU-Macomb students: Beu Health Center; WIU-Macomb Employees: Sherman Hall 321 (Vice President for Student Success Office); WIU-Quad Cities Students & Employees: Riverfront Hall.

Students, faculty, and staff who are not physically on campus at all during the 2021-2022 academic year are exempt from these requirements. Individuals who are on campus, even for one class, must submit a vaccine card or comply with weekly testing.
