MACOMB, IL – The schedule for the free Western Illinois University Art Education Fall 2021 Community Art Program has been released for students in grades 1-2 and 3-4.

This year's programs will be held from 6:30-7:45 p.m. on Wednesdays in Garwood Hall, 25. The program for students in grades 1-2 will be held Oct. 27 and Nov. 3, and the program for students in grades 3-4 will be held Nov. 10 and Nov. 17.

Because of space limitations, a maximum of 15 students will be accepted for each class and will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis.

In the classes for grades 1-2, young artists will explore how lines can create interesting shapes and unique patterns. Students will gain an understanding of the line and its purpose, as well as be able identify different types of lines and use them to decorate drawn trees with elaborate shapes and patterns.

In the classes for grades 3-4, young artists will explore creating original character design by using simple shapes and to create a three-dimensional character. Students will be encouraged to come up with a backstory that is reflected in the character's design and features.

To register, email WIU Associate Professor Ta-Teh Ku at T-Ku@wiu.edu.
