Peace Corps' 60th Anniversary and Peace Corps Week Celebrated at WIU

MACOMB, IL – Several events have been scheduled at Western Illinois University March 3-5 to celebrate Peace Corps Week and Peace Corps' 60th anniversary.

The Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs (IIRA) and WIU's Peace Corps Programs office are hosting a few events to celebrate, which include:

Wednesday, March 3, 3:30-4:45 p.m. on Google Meet: "The Peace Corps Experience":
Join Peace Corps Fellow Rok Locksley at meet.google.com/qoo-rnsb-mbe, for a presentation on the history of peace and its impact on society. Themes to be explored include peace-building and the formation of the Peace Corps. Following the presentation, Vaughn Thornton, Peace Corps recruiter, will be available to answer questions about the service and the application process.

• Thursday, March 4, 6-7 p.m. on Google Meet: "World Trivia Night":

Visit meet.google.com/xod-bemu-yng to participate. Bring your knowledge of the world – prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.

• Friday, March 5, 1-2 p.m. "Peace Corps' 60th Anniversary":
Celebrate in Stipes Hall and the WIU Multicultural Center by grabbing a coffee and cupcake to go. The event is being held with COVID-19 considerations in place.
