Bloodworth Awarded WIU President's Scholarship

MACOMB, IL - High school senior Jenna Bloodworth, of Bethalto, IL, has been awarded a Western Illinois University President's Scholarship, in conjunction with the Western Commitment Scholarship. Together, these scholarships cover four years of tuition, fees, a double residence hall room and standard board for eight semesters.

"WIU provides me with the opportunity to double major, participate in an honors college, play in a Division I marching band, while not being too far from home," she said.

At Western, Bloodworth plans to double major in nursing and Spanish, and plans to get involved in the Honors program, marching band, campus ministry, intramural sports and is also interested in foreign languages clubs.

In high school, Bloodworth is involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Drama Club, Thespian Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, band, tennis, The Eaglet (school newspaper), FreshMentors and track and field.

After graduating from WIU, Bloodworth plans to work in an intensive care unit to gain experience to go on to graduate school and become a nurse anesthetist.

To qualify for the WIU President's Scholarship, students must first be awarded WIU's Commitment Scholarship. The scholarship decision is also weighted by the proof of volunteer and community service.
