MACOMB, IL - High school senior Hayden Zaluckyj, of Belvidere, IL, has been awarded a Western Illinois University President's Scholarship, in conjunction with the Western Commitment Scholarship. Together, these scholarships cover four years of tuition, fees, a double residence hall room and standard board for eight semesters.

"The campus at Western seemed like a good fit for me based on the size and location. In addition, the agriculture program will give me exposure to the field." said Zaluckyj.

At Western, Zaluckyj plans to major in the agriculture pre-veterinary medicine program. He plans to get involved in agriculture clubs and sports as well.

In high school, Zaluckyj played basketball each year and participated in track and field. He was president of the W-Club and a member of the National Honor Society. He was in the Running Start Program, where he attended Rock Valley College for all of his classes junior and senior year.

After Western, Zaluckyj plans to continue his education by applying to veterinary school.

To qualify for the WIU President's Scholarship, students must first be awarded WIU's Commitment Scholarship. The scholarship decision is also weighted by the proof of volunteer and community service.
