- Description: The Department of Communication is pleased to announce that Prof. Timothy Levine will deliver the 34th Annual Wayne N. Thompson Lecture on March 25, 2024 at 3:45pm in The Capitol Room of the Western Illinois University Student Union. Prof. Levine is one of the world’s top authorities on lying and deception. His research has been funded by the U.S. Justice Department, National Science Foundation, and the Department of Defense. He is the author of the book, “Duped: Truth-Default Theory and the Social Science of Lying and Deception,” which details his decades of research on the unique theory of deception that he developed. He is among the most productive researchers in the field of Communication and has influenced deception research in a variety of fields. His research talk will be of interest to anyone interested in Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Business, Education, or Communication.
