- Description: Due to the restrictions currently in place, there are no general admission performances in the COFAC Recital Hall. This performance will be live-streamed on the School of Music's YouTube channel and Facebook page.
PROGRAM NOTE: We are so thankful to continue singing in person this semester amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. We extend our deepest thanks for all the tremendous administrative support from the School of Music, COFAC, and WIU. Without their help, none of this would have been possible.
The students of University Singers were split into two hextets this semester and met for 30 minutes each day. We decided to build a program that would represent a sense of unity in song by incorporating part songs and folk songs from around the world. In addition, we chose an entirely a cappella program in order to keep the focus on the beauty of the voice and independent musicianship skill-building.
What a joy it has been studying these many languages and communicative sounds in a small chamber setting. I have a profound sense of compassion and love for these hard-working, dedicated students. They continued to show empathy for all those around them and lifted each other up throughout the year. In the face of tremendous difficulty, singing has remained a generous gift to us all. We hope you enjoy.
