- Description: WIU is celebrating International Education Week from Monday-Friday, November 18-22, 2019. According to the United States Department of State, International Education Week (IEW) is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. The joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of the University’s efforts to promote programs to prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences.
Some of the highlights include:
• International Coffee Hour China – Horrabin Hall 1 (November 19, 3:30-
4:30pm)
• Cultural Café Kenya – Horrabin Hall 1 (November 20, 12:00-1:00 pm)
• Trans* Week – LGBT*Q Resource Center, (November 18-20)
• Peace Corps & International Education Panel – Fox Room University Union,
(November 20, 4:00 – 5:00 pm)
• Define American – Multicultural Center Casa Latina (November 21, 6:00 –
8:00 pm)
IEW is sponsored by the WIU School of Global Studies, the Peace Corps Program, International Friendship Club, and Casa Latina.
