- Time: 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM
- Location: Multicultural Center Multipurpose and Activity Rooms
- Description: Co-sponsored by: Feminist Action Alliance, Campus Girl Scouts, and OASIS
The WIU Women’s Center will hold a Blood Drive from 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, in the Multicultural Center Multipurpose and Activity Rooms.
The Women’s Center strongly encourages all who are eligible to donate blood. For every one donor, the lives of three patients are saved.
First-time donors are encouraged to sign up, as well as anyone who has ever donated and may be eligible. Donors who have not donated since Sept. 12, 2012 are eligible to donate as long as you meet other donation requirements. Please bring Red Cross donor card or photo ID.
Anyone who has not yet registered but would like to donate is asked to call the Women's Center or register online at wiu.edu/wc. While advance registration is encouraged, walk-ins also are welcome.
Hurricane Sandy Impact:
As of Tuesday, October 30th, Hurricane Sandy has forced the cancellation of approximately 300 American Red Cross Blood Drives in 14 States, resulting in a shortfall of nearly 9,000 units of blood and platelets so far.
The storm may cause power outages and flooding in many areas, which will most likely cause the cancellation of additional blood drives.
While Sandy will affect the number of people available to donate, hospital patients still need blood and platelets despite the weather.
The Red Cross is urging immediate blood and platelet donations in areas unaffected by this storm.
The Red Cross will move blood products to affected areas as necessary.
Blood donors are truly making an impact by helping to ensure the inventory of the nation's blood supply remains constant. - Related Web Site: Women's Center
