- Royalty Free Resources for Rich Media Project Creation

- Time: 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
- Location: Malpass Library, Room 180
- Description: It’s been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, and this is ever more important in the multimedia world of today, where effective communication draws upon text, images, audio, and video to create meaningful information objects. Unfortunately, while words are often easy to muster, affordable multimedia can be hard to come by. This session on royalty free media available for faculty and students can help overcome this obstacle in the development of class curriculum and projects. Topics include an overview of copyright and the four fair use factors as well as a discussion of royalty free sites that provide open source photos, videos, sounds, music, and fonts for educational use. Also included is a tour of the library’s media collections and royalty free media guide with links to the resources discussed as well as helpful hints for incorporating these media types into the classroom.
