13th Annual QND Raider Classic 5K/10K

Events start at 7:30 AM

A 5K run/walk & 10K combination road race/cross country race that begins and ends at Quincy Notre Dame High School. The races will take you through one or two of Quincy's most beautiful and historic river bluff parks. Participants will enjoy the challenges presented by either course. There are several beautiful views of the Mississippi River Valley along this route. The 5K course has rolling hills and is suitable for all. The long hills throughout the 10K course will challenge you! The Raider Classic is a great follow-up event for those who have competed in the Bridge the Gap and is a perfect companion event leading to the Hannibal Cannibal. We also have a 1 mile FUN run for youth under the age of 13 who aren't quite ready for the 5 or 10K events. This is an event for the entire family. Class reunions, and several family reunions, have included this event on their list of weekend activities.

Awards

The Overall top two 5K male/female finishers in each of the 13 age group categories will be awarded prizes. The Overall top three 10K male/female finishers in each of 7 age group categories will be awarded prizes. The Overall top four 5K male/female finishers will be awarded prizes. All of the youth entrants in the mile run will receive an award. New for 2013 - Anyone breaking one of the 5K or 10K run course records will win a free pair of running shoes from The Springfield Running Center!

John Bliven Memorial Run & Fun Walk (Macomb)

The 13th annual John Bliven Memorial Run & Fun Walk will be held June 29, 2013 during Heritage Days. There will be a one mile Run/Walk for kids 12 and under; the two-mile and four-mile Run/Walk will begin after the completion of that race. The entry fee is $20 prior to the day of the race, $25 on the day of the race. Ribbons will be mailed to male and female age group winners. Walkers are welcome. Participants should meet at the Old Dairy, 210 South Lafayette Street, Macomb.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Samaritan Well Women's and Men's Shelter and the St. Jude Children's Hospital.

The Illinois Chapter of the Pediatric Hydrocephalus Foundation, Inc. is sponsoring the 1st Annual Hydrocephalus Awareness 5k Fall Fun Run & Walk on Saturday, September 14th, 2013 at The Old Diary, 210 South Lafayette Street in Macomb, IL.

Adults (18 years and older) - $25.00 - includes race T-Shirt
Child - $10.00 - includes race T-Shirt
Register before September 1st to be guaranteed a shirt on race day

Packet Pick Up and Late Registration will be on Friday, September 13th from 4:30 - 6:30 pm at Alan Thompson's State Farm Insurance office, 623 East Jackson St., Macomb and September 14th from 7:15 - 8:15 am at The Old Dairy.

The Pediatric Hydrocephalus Foundation, Inc., a non-profit 501 (c) (3) charitable organization, educates the community by raising the level of awareness about this brain condition. The PHF provides support to the families, friends and children who are diagnosed with Hydrocephalus.

The PHF raises money for and works with the medical community in searching for a cure and additional treatment options for those with Hydrocephalus.

Additionally, the PHF advocates on behalf of the members of the Hydrocephalus community and works with policy makers at the State and Federal level to raise awareness and push for more research and support in our fight against Hydrocephalus.

This September marks the 5th annual "National Hydrocephalus Awareness Month!"


Quad Cities Marathon (and Half-marathon, 5K and 1 Mile)

THE Quad Cities Marathon, a USATF certified course is held annually on the fourth Sunday in September. The 26.2 mile run starts and ends in downtown Moline, IL. The event benefits The Erika Kate Foundation and prostate cancer research and helps fund screening. The course captures the essence of our nation's heartland with a consistent connection to the Mississippi River. The views are amazing, the Midwest charm is present and the course is fairly fast. It's a great Boston Marathon qualifier. It covers 5 races, 4 cities, 3 bridges, 2 states, and 1 island, all along the mighty Mississippi River.

Great River Road Run 1/2 Marathon

The Great River Road Run ½ Marathon/5K/30 mile ride is located in what is sometimes referred to as the heart of America. This course offers breathtaking views and majestic landscapes that inspire and sooth the soul. Nature has been kind to the banks and bluffs along this route. The Great River Road Run will set you alongside the mighty Mississippi as you make your way from Hamilton, Illinois to Nauvoo, Illinois. Bicyclist will forge on around and through the countryside back to the start. The beautiful fall setting will be spectacular as you make your way through the course.

The course for the race takes participants entirely on paved surfaces, starting at the Great River Boat Company in Hamilton, IL beginning at 8:30 AM. From there, the course takes participants along the mighty Mississippi then into historic Nauvoo winding around some city streets then ends in the Nauvoo State Park, except for bicyclists which will continue on through the countryside back to the start. The first 13 miles of course will be closed to traffic.

The 27th Annual Homecoming Old Stompin' Ground Runaround 5K Fun Run/2 mile walk will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013. Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:45 a.m. at the Alumni House.
