University Branded Merchandise
The University asserts ownership of its name and any other trademark or symbol associated with or referring to the University. Any product bearing identifying marks and logos that can be interpreted as representing Western Illinois University must be produced by a licensed vendor.
Any vendor using the University's logos, trademarks, or word marks must be licensed through Licensing Resource Group (LRG). All entities not approved to utilize the marks of Western Illinois University are prohibited from using the marks of the University in conjunction with merchandise or services offered without prior authorization to do so from University Marketing or the University’s licensing agent.
To determine whether a prospective vendor is licensed, please visit lrgusa.com and follow the instructions below. Please note that the list is continually evolving. If there is a vendor that is not on the list, please provide the company name, contact name, and contact phone number and/or email to email@example.com. University Marketing and LRG will contact the prospective vendor to inquire whether there is an interest in becoming a licensed vendor.

LRG manages all merchant and manufacturer licensing matters for the University. For further information on how to become a licensed vendor that is legally permitted to manufacture or sell Western Illinois University merchandise to or at retail outlets, visit wiu.edu/trademark. University groups wishing to apply a Western Illinois University logo or word mark to hard or soft goods must receive permission from University Marketing. Examples of hard goods include, but are not limited to, mugs, pens, and buttons. Soft goods include, but are not limited to, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hats. Licensed merchants must be used to produce hard or soft goods for officially sanctioned University student organizations, official University departments, or divisions.
Logo and Merchandise Colors
University logos may be presented in color or black-only versions as illustrated in this guide. The logos may be printed only in University purple (Pantone 2607) and gold (Pantone 116) or in black on non-color pieces. Rocky's teeth and the whites of his eyes must be white. All logos are trademarked property of the University and must contain a trademark (™) designation.
On occasion, University Marketing will permit use of the logos in white on a fashion color background. Permission must be received from University Marketing for the use of a logo printed in white on a fashion color background.
Color combinations that are prohibited because they are color schemes of other universities in our region include orange and blue (University of Illinois), red and white (Illinois State University), and black and gold (University of Iowa).
