Sally Adams

Chief Clerk
Conferences & Non-Credit Programs

Sally works as a Chief Clerk in Conferences and Non-Credit Programs. She began her career at WIU in September 2011 in this position. Sally's duties include serving as an assistant to the Director and Asst. Director of the department, responsible for the departmental budget, and setting up contracts for each program. She also supervises student assistants and extra-help staff. When asked what she enjoys most about her job, Sally shared, "There are a lot of different things in our department. There are camp programs and continuing education programs—a wide variety of programs. I enjoy the variety in our office!" Regarding prospective employees looking to WIU for employment, Sally shares her experiences, "I got a great education here, and it's a great place to work. It is the only school I applied to for my education and I have had great experiences both with my education and as my employer. This department has been enjoyable to work in and I am glad I stayed here for my career." Her most memorable experience was working with the LEJA Conference on Active Shooter Threats. "This was a very timely conference, and I learned a lot-as a parent, especially. I enjoyed offering that program to teachers and professionals that needed it. I enjoyed the interaction with the presenters. It was very impactful!" A walk around Lake Ruth with her family is one of Sally's favorite things to do at WIU. She also likes to run through campus. "I went to school here; there are great memories all over campus for me. We enjoy sitting on our front porch to watch the WIU Homecoming parade too!" Sally enjoys sewing and spending time with her husband Chris and their 5-year old son, Collin. The Adams' will also welcome a new baby girl into their family in May!
