Remove and replace all building exterior cladding. Remove and replace all room heating and cooling units.
August 2013 (estimated)
WIU Project Manager
The project involves the complete replacement of all exterior cladding and windows in the building. The original cladding has deteriorated and must be replaced. The new exterior wall will update the appearance of the building to make it more appealing to today's students as well as blend the building in more architecturally with the rest of the campus. Heating and cooling units in each student living room will also be replaced. The building is a 19 story residence hall with approximately 800 rooms. Selection of systems will conserve energy, increase comfort, and greatly reduce energy demands for the future HVAC systems.
March 2013 - Installation of the curtain wall is in full swing. Curtain wall panel installation over the resident rooms is complete on the west wall of the north wing.
September 2012 - Demolition of student room furniture, finishes, and heating/cooling units is underway. Removal of the exterior cladding is scheduled for late January.
April 2012 - Project is advertised for contractor competitive bidding. Invitation to bid was advertised April 12th, 2012 and bids are due at the WIU purchasing office May 15th and 16th, 2012. For more information visit www.procure.stateuniv.state.il.us
