Faculty & Staff Campaign - FAQ

What is the Faculty & Staff Campaign?

  • The Faculty & Staff Campaign is an annual fundraising effort that provides all Western employees the opportunity to support their area of choice at Western.

Why should I give to Western?

  • Simply put, as employees, We Are Western. Every day, we make a difference by sharing our ideas, talents and abilities regardless of the job we do. Your participation in Faculty & Staff Campaign is just one more way that you can join together with your colleagues to show your Western pride and support for our students in making Western even stronger. Your participation in the Campaign signifies your commitment to Western and our students. Please give today!

Is the Faculty & Staff Campaign the same thing as SECA?

  • No. Contributions to the Faculty & Staff Campaign stay here at Western to benefit our students and our university. SECA supports many worthy causes, but contributions made through SECA do not always benefit Western.

What is the Capital Campaign, and how does it relate to the Faculty & Staff Campaign?

  • The Capital Campaign is a multi-million dollar fundraising effort of Western Illinois University to support our bold institutional initiative and strategic plan, Higher Values in Higher Education. This campaign will raise $60 million for new construction, academic initiatives and endowed programs across both campuses. The Capital Campaign is a comprehensive campaign, meaning it includes all annual contributions, as well as major gifts. By making a gift or pledge to the annual Faculty & Staff Campaign, you are automatically a contributor to the Capital Campaign.

Will I receive a year-end tax receipt from the WIU Foundation?

  • If you give via payroll deduction or another monthly mechanism, the Foundation will send you a calendar year-end tax receipt by the end of January.  If you do not give monthly or via Payroll deduction, the Foundation sends gift acknowledgements (which also serve as tax receipts) throughout the year as gifts are received; however, you may request to instead receive year-end receipts by contacting the Foundation Accounting Office at (309) 298-1861.
  • If you have additional questions regarding your contributions to WIU, contact the Foundation Accounting Office at (309) 298-1861.

Will others know the amount of my gift or where I direct my contribution?

  • No. The WIU Foundation does not release gift amounts or designations without the donor’s permission. You may follow the campaign’s overall progress at We Are Western.

How can I make a contribution to the Faculty & Staff Campaign?

What if my spouse works for a matching gift company?

  •   To find out if a company has a matching gift program, visit our matching gift directory.

My spouse also works for Western. Will our joint gift count for both of us?

  • Yes. If you and your spouse are both employed by Western, you may contribute either separately or jointly. If you are making a joint gift, please indicate this on either the paper contribution form or the online giving form.
