University Technology

Western Illinois University is committed to providing state-of-the-art technologies, infrastructure, support, and security. Committees and task forces are providing vital input into ongoing efforts to streamline campuswide technology service and support. This site is your link to the progress of these efforts.

System Maintenance Schedule

University computing systems undergo regular maintenance each Saturday morning from 12:01am to 6:01am. Maintenance is important to keep the systems fully operational during the primary times of use. As this time frame has been shown to have only minimal use, it has been chosen for this important regular task. During this time, service may be limited.

Campus Computer Store - new retail store coming in August 2008 in the Union

As a Western student, faculty, or staff member, you can take advantage of special pricing discounts of 5-25% that have been arranged with Apple and Dell.

In the past, our Campus Computer Store in the Malpass Library provided only viewing and "try out" opportunities, with the products then being ordered online. Beginning in August 2008, just in time for the beginning of Fall Semester, a new retail location will be established in the University Union Kiosk between the Food Court and the Book Store. In addition to "trying out" the newest from Apple and Dell, you can also purchase directly from the Campus Computer Store. Just walk in, try out, decide what you want to purchase, make payment, and walk right out the door with your new computer, iPod, software, and accessories.

Campus Technology Structure

Effective January 1, 2008, campus technology units were reorganized to provide a more streamlined and functional effort with enhanced user support support. This has results in two primary units on the Macomb campus and a support unit on the Quad Cities campus.
