Western Commitment Scholarships (2023-2024 Academic Year)

Western Commitment Scholarships are available to incoming freshmen and amounts may vary.  

What are the requirements?

  • Incoming freshman
  • Have a cumulative high school GPA or 3.3 or higher
  • Submit a current year FAFSA or Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid with WIU as a school choice prior to the start of the semester of award
  • Enroll full-time in WIU undergraduate courses

Is this scholarship renewable?

  • Yes, for an additional three years (six semesters) of continuous full-time undergraduate study
  • Student needs to maintain a 3.0 GPA at WIU for renewal

What else do I need to know?

  • Scholarships will be disbursed in equal amounts between the fall and spring semesters
  • Total financial aid and scholarships cannot exceed the direct cost of attendance for Western Illinois University (tuition, fees, on-campus housing, dining) and no cash refunds will be given
  • Scholarships are subject to the availability of funds
  • Available for domestic students only 

How to Apply

  • Apply for admission by May 1 and then be admitted to WIU after application.
