Illinois Veterans Grant (IVG)

Eligibility

The Illinois Veterans Grant (IVG) is a state entitlement program for qualified U.S. Armed Forces veterans (visit ISAC.org to view a complete list of eligibility requirements).

Students must meet Student Academic Progress in order to continue to receive their IVG benefits.

Benefits

IVG benefits pay eligible tuition, fees, and any nine-month prorated health insurance charges - benefits do not cover the Distance Learning Charge* assessed for online coursework. IVG benefits are limited to use at Illinois public colleges or community colleges. Qualified applicants may use this grant at the undergraduate or graduate level for the equivalent of four academic years of full-time enrollment.

PLEASE NOTE: Requests to change, update, or cancel awards must be made prior to the term billing deadline (the last day of the semester for a which an award is received).

* The Distance Learning Charge is a cost associated with specific coursework and is not an assessment based on a student's total enrollment - therefore, the Distance Learning Charge is not covered by IVG benefits. To determine the costs associated with your Tuition Plan and enrollment, please review the Tuition and Fees and Other Costs information available through the Billing & Receivables Office.

Application

Submit an Illinois Veterans Grant (IVG) Application and required documentation to the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), as listed on the application form.

Eligible applicants will be sent a Notice of Basic Eligibility Letter - please notify the Veterans Resource Center of eligibility. After confirming eligibility with ISAC, IVG funds will credit the student's University account. PLEASE NOTE: Notification of IVG eligibility must be provided to the Veterans Resource Center by the last day of the semester.

If you are continuously enrolled each academic year, IVG will credit your bill automatically. If you wish to discontinue use of IVG please notify the Veterans Resource Center. If you have a break in enrollment please notify the Veterans Resource Center to re-activate your award.
