Membership Information

Fee-paying students of Western Illinois University are automatically members of the Student Recreation Center.

  • WIU graduates/faculty/staff/retirees and their spouses/domestic partners are eligible to purchase a membership.
  • Status of WIU graduates will be verified.
  • Spoon River College students who live in WIU residence halls are the only SRC students eligible to purchase a semester membership.
  • WIU faculty/staff/retirees who are taking classes may qualify for a free membership only if they also have a fee-paying WIU class verified that is not a waiver class. This information can only be verified Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, by  Director of Campus Recreation.
  • ALL membership sales are conducted at the front desk during regular building hours . 

*ALL memberships are payable by CASH or CHECK ONLY, except employee payroll deduction. Credit/Debit cards are NOT ACCEPTED!

NOTE: Alumni refers to graduates of Western Illinois University.

Summer Membership * (Students enrolled in an on-campus/online class for at least one semester hour for either 4-week session, 6-week session or  8-week session pay the fee for the Rec Center and do not need to purchase a membership for summer.)

  • WIU students who were enrolled in Spring 2023 classes, but not enrolled in Summer 2023 classes, OR 
  • WIU students pre-enrolled in Fall 2023 classes, but not enrolled in Summer 2023 classes, are ELIGIBLE TO PURCHASE a summer membership.
  • Summer membership dates are May 15, 2023 to August 20, 2023.
  • WIU students/faculty/staff/retirees and their domestic partners/spouses: $110 *
  • WIU graduates, Pella exempt and non-exempt employees, and their spouses/domestic partners: $125 *

Day Pass

  • Membership-eligible individuals (WIU faculty/staff/graduates and their spouses/domestic partners) are eligible to purchase a daily pass to the Rec Center.  
  • WIU ID or a photo ID must be provided.
  • Pass must be paid with cash or check (no debit/credit cards accepted).
  • Waiver must be signed.
  • Pass is not eligible for hosting guests.
  • Day Pass: $7 *

Guest Pass

  • Any member can purchase a guest pass for a non-member.
  • Members are allowed a maximum of two guests per day. 
  • Both the member's and the guest's ID cards are retained at the front desk during their use of the facility.
  • Guests must be 16 or older and present a valid picture ID.
  • Guests age 16-17 years must have a parent or guardian-signed waiver and be accompanied by the member at all times.
  • Guests over the age of 18 must sign a waiver and be accompanied by the member at all times.
  • Children under the age of 16 are not allowed in the facility except during family swim or another event specified for children.
  • Guest Pass: $7 *

10-Visit Punch Card Pass *

WIU faculty/staff/retirees/graduates and their spouses/domestic partners, Go West employees, Sodexo employees, Pella exempt and non-exempt employees.

  • There is no additional charge for attending fitness classes.
  • 10-visit punch pass card: $40 *

Walking Pass *

WIU faculty/staff/retirees/graduates, their spouses/domestic partners, Go West employees, Sodexo employees, and Pella exempt and non-exempt employees AGE 50 and OLDER.

  • Pass is good for one month.
  • Pass allows individuals to use the elevated walking track only.
  • Walking pass: $20 *

Introductory Wellness Membership *

WIU graduates/faculty/staff/retirees, Go West employees, Sodexo employees, Pella exempt and non-exempt employees, and their spouses/domestic partners, who have never had a prior membership may try out the Spencer Student Recreation Center by purchasing a one-time, six-week trial membership.

  • Introductory Wellness Membership: $30 *

Membership Costs *

WIU graduates/faculty/staff/retirees, Go West employees, Sodexo employees, Pella exempt and non-exempt employees, and their spouses/domestic partners are eligible to purchase a membership. There is no additional charge for attending fitness classes.

  • Fall or Spring Semester: $150 *
  • See summer membership cost above.
  • 3-Month Membership: $110 * (any three consecutive months)
  • Yearly: $300 *
  • Payroll Deduction
    • Yearly memberships only: $25/month or $12.50/bi-weekly or semi-monthly pay (available for WIU employees only)
    • Payroll deductions continue in perpetuity until member revokes it by completing a Revocation Card with Payroll.
    • If a membership payroll deduction is revoked prior to September of the current year, the membership cannot be reinstated until after September 1; cash or check may be paid for membership until the September 1 date.

WIU Student Spouses/Domestic Partners, Online Students, and Quad Cities Students

Domestic partners of students must have Domestic Partnership Agreement paperwork on file with the Vice President for Student Services, Sherman Hall 321, (309) 298-1814, prior to the purchase of a membership.

  • Fall or Spring Semester: $150*
  • Summer Term: $110*

WIU Alumni and Spouses/Domestic Partners, Spoon River College Residential (Spoon River Residential are semester-only eligibility)

  • Fall or Spring Semester: $175*
  • Summer Term: $125*
  • 3-Month Membership: $125* (any three consecutive months)
  • Yearly: $350*

Domestic Partnership Information

Domestic partners of faculty or staff must have Faculty/Staff Domestic Partnership Agreement paperwork on file with the Human Resources office at Western Illinois University prior to the purchase of a membership.

Domestic partners of students must have Student Domestic Partnership Agreement paperwork on file with the Vice President for Student Success , Sherman Hall 321, (309) 298-1814, prior to the purchase of a membership. 

  • Yearly Cash: one full calendar year
