We are Happy to Announce that we will have two positions available for the Fall '14 - Spring '15 academic year.
The Western Illinois University Counseling Center staff is highly committed to excellence in training within an active university service-oriented center. The experience is defined as a practicum or an internship based on the individual student's program. Applicants should be enrolled in a masters level counseling, psychology, or related program. This is a non-paid internship; approximately 20-37.5 hours per week.
The practicum/internship program provides intensive supervised experience (minimum two hours per week one-on-one supervision) and opportunities in personal counseling, career counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, outreach programming, consultation, and psychodiagnostic assessments. Specific therapeutic training experiences are selected with the special needs and interests of the individual student in mind, and supervision is geared to the student's level of professional development. Many opportunities are available for close contact and supervision with the multidisciplinary professional staff. Staff counselors' interests and experience include, among others: addictions, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, women's issues, wellness, dysfunctional families, sexual orientation, sexual assault, anger management, and assessment.
