The Presidents' Statement on Diversity

As president of Western Illinois University, I am dedicated to upholding exemplary professional and personal standards that reflect this University’s commitment to equality. I charge all members of the University community to maintain proactive stances when engaging with others with regard to diversity matters.

As a campus community, we are proud to provide academic and extracurricular opportunities that support a culture of inclusion. WIU respects the dignity and worth of every individual and welcomes all regardless of sex, race, color, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, religion, age, marital status, national origin, disability, or veteran status.

Diversity is an integral part of our strategic plan. All students, faculty, staff, and guests are encouraged to demonstrate and support our core values of academic excellence, educational opportunity, personal growth, and social responsibility by actively engaging in campus activities and helping to enhance our climate of community, understanding, mutual respect, and appreciation for multicultural issues.
