Broadcasting Scholarships

  • Nancy and Bruce Foster Radio Scholarship
    • Must be a rising senior, having completed 90 semester hours at the end of the spring semester of application
    • Pursuing a B.A. in Broadcasting
    • Must show strong interest in radio broadcasting
    • Must have completed two years of work at WIUS-FM or two years at a local or regional radio station by the end of the application period
    • Demonstrate talent, commitment, excellence, and professional ambition in broadcasting
    • Scholarship is awarded to the top student. If more than one student is considered qualified, preference shall be given to a student with demonstrated participation in broadcasting activities
  • Stephanie Wilson Scholarship
    • Pursuing a B.A. degree in Broadcasting
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA in broadcasting with a minimum of 9 semester hours in the broadcasting program
    • Completed a minimum of 60 semester hours at the end of the spring semester
    • Demonstrate talent, commitment, excellence and professional ambition in broadcasting
    • Preference to a student with demonstrated participation in broadcasting activities
  • Illinois Broadcasters Association Scholarship
    • Enrolled full time in good academic standing
    • Demonstrate talent, commitment, excellence, and professional ambition in broadcasting
    • Have superior record of academic performance
    • Awarded to the top student (as determined by the appropriate WIU faculty and/or academic administrators) with rising senior standing majoring in Broadcasting. If more than one outstanding student is considered qualified, preference shall be given to a student with demonstrated financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid Office and/or work experience in broadcasting.
  • Broadcasting Faculty and Alumni Scholarship
    • Must be a declared Broadcasting major
    • Must be an incoming freshman
    • Must have WIU housing contract and select the Broadcasting Living Learning Community floor as his/her housing option
    • Must include his/her SAT/ACT score and high school grade point average in the application
    • Essay on what they feel they can contribute to the broadcasting field
    • Submit documentation of current experience in broadcasting (audio, video, scripting) on CD or DVD
  • E.C. "Tug" Haddock Memorial Scholarship
    • Junior or senior
    • Student working at WIUM-FM
    • Demonstrates exemplary dedication and talent as a board operator and/or broadcast journalist while employed at WIUM-FM.
