Tentative Schedule of Activites for Dads' Weekend

October 17 through October 19, 2014

WIU Parents and Family Association cordially invites you and your Dad, grandpa, uncle, &/or brother to join us for the Annual Dads' Weekend.

We hope you enjoy our line-up of activities! This year's Dads' oriented events are sure to make this a memorable time for you and your student(s). From the ever popular Amateur 9-hole golf scramble, fabulous cooking classes, Friday opening dinner reception, Beerfest (for those 21 and older), WIU football game, chili cook off, and a competitive advanced 18 hole golf scramble- we offer something for everyone.

Registration is highly recommended. Many events sell out quickly. If you have any questions regarding reservations or any activity during Dads' Weekend, please contact the Parents and Family Association at (309) 298-2295 or KA-Heuer@wiu.edu

Registration:

We would like all participants to register online. The registration form only contains events that require a prepayment or have space limitations. Many activities are free for Dads' and to take part, you just have to be registered for the weekend and wearing your Dads' Weekend wristband. You can pay online with a credit card or mail in a check (check option will be available until October 14, 2013).  All unpaid reservations will be cancelled on October 18, 2013.

Dads will be required to wear and present their wristbands at our campus and community events in order to receive the advertised discounted promotion. Wristbands will be included in your registration packet. Make check payable to the Parents and Family Association. Mail checks and reservation forms to:

Cancellation Policy:

There is a $10.00 non-refundable processing fee for all cancelled registrations. In order to be considered for a partial refund, you must submit a cancellation request which includes a reason for the cancellation in writing no later than October 18, 2013. Cancellations will not be accepted after the deadline. Cancellation requests can be mailed or emailed to:

Approved refunds will be processed and distributed after Dads' Weekend. Those receiving refunds will be processed on or around October 31, 2013.

Friday Night Entertainment: Joshua Kane - "Borders of the Mind: The Psychic Show For The Whole Family"

in COFAC Recital Hall

With warmth and charm, mentalist Joshua Kane leads audiences through a dazzling demonstration of the powers of the mind. Like Professor X of legend, Kane identifies those in the audience with special abilities who will successfully project their own thoughts and tap the powers of their intuition. An amazing, interactive performance where the entire audience experiences simultaneous telepathy and witnesses dazzling feats of lie detection and what must be psychic phenomena. People of all ages leap to participate in the Strange Happenings at the Borders of the Mind


Tee Shirt Orders:Dads' Weekend

Western Illinois University Dads' Weekend T-Shirts are for order prior to the event. Shirts are available in small, medium, large, extra large, 2 XL and 3 XL and the t-shirt color will grey. T-Shirt order placed before 4:30 pm on 10/18/13 will be provided at the Dads' Weekend Registration table. T-shirts requested after this date will be back ordered and available for pick up by your student on October 31, 2013 in the Student Assistance and Parent Service Center, 1st Floor University Union.


Driving Directions:

Sullivan Taylor Coffee House: Take University drive East to Lafayette Street (US 67) turn right. Go through the first two lights. At stop sign proceed forward, you are entering the downtown square.  Follow around till you see Coffee House.

Horn Field Campus:  Take University drive East to Lafayette Street (US 67) turn right. Go straight through first light. At second light, turn right (route 136). At traffic light, go straight. At "T" intersection, turn right, then immediately left on Johnson street. At stop sign, continue straight. Turn right on China road. Follow sings and turn left to enter Horn Field Campus.

Ball Fore Family Fun Center: Miniature golf, batting cages, & driving range. Take University drive East to Lafayette street (US 67) turn right. Go through the first light. At second light, turn right (route 136). Follow route 136 towards to Ball Fore (left hand side of road).

Rialto Theater: Take University drive East to Lafayette street (US 67) turn right. Go through the fisrt light. At second light, turn left (route 136). Follow route 136 towards the west side of town. Turn right on Prairie into shopping plaza.

Digger's College City Bowl: Take University drive east to Lafayette street (US 67) turn right. Go through the first light. Turn left on Adams street. Diggers is located on the right side of the road.
