Multicultural Center

Meet the MCC Ambassadors!!!

Jumique Phillips

MCC Ambassador (Front Desk)

I am a Broadcasting & Journalism major from Aurora, IL. The Multicultural Center, to me, means diversity and overall fun to be around positive people.I enjoy The Taste of Africa event because it shows different cultures in Africa. My advice to new students is get involved in your MAJOR!

I live by the quote,

"It's not what you know, It's what you can prove".

Nike Pennington

MCC Ambassador (Front Desk)

I am majoring in Economics with a minor in Hospitality Management. I am originally from Chicago, IL. For me, the MCC is a place of freedom to read, write, listen to music, hang with friends, eat, dance, chill, or even sleep. It’s a place to be whoever you want to be and do whatever you want to do. I advise ALL incoming Freshmen to check out the MCC! My biggest regret, much like a lot of other students, is finding out about the MCC during my final semesters here.

My favorite quote is:

"Never say never and be fearless."

Ramat Dada

MCC Ambassador (Front Desk)

I'm a Health Service Management Major with a Minor in Business. The MCC is a safe place where I have called home for the past four years since I have been at Western. My favorite MCC event is Taste of Africa hosted by the African Student Association because the event brings the African culture to the campus and the Macomb community. Incoming freshman should get involved on campus but also remember what they are here for and do their best with everything they do here! A quote that I live by is

"God is within her, she will not fail!"

Myah' Turner

MCC Ambassador (Front Desk)

She's a junior majoring in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration with a minor in Communication. She's also a member of one of our organizations, Beyond Beautiful!

Her favorite quote is:

"I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong.

Tekieel (Teka) Powell

MCC Ambassador (Front Desk)

I am an Exercise Science Major. I am originally from Evanston, IL. I enjoy every event at the MCC and cannot chose a favorite. I see genuine support with so much love and encouragement in every event at the MCC.

Mireya Grant

MCC Ambassador (Front Desk)

I am majoring in LEJA with a minor in Psychology. I am from Chicago, IL. The MCC to me, is an open area for ALL students that provides comfort while allowing students to de-stress from their day-to-day class schedule. The best advice I can give to ALL students is to keep an open mind when meeting new people, staying focused but most importantly, not forgetting why they came to college, staying true to themselves and enjoying their time.

A quote I live by

"You're not the same person you were a year ago, a month ago, or a week ago. You're constantly changing, experiences don't stop. Stay positive"
