Judicial Incident Summary
Fraternities and sororities may be placed on probation or suspension with Western Illinois University for a number of reasons. In some cases, they may be placed on a disciplinary status for failing to pay for a room reservation. In other cases, there may be more serious reasons for the organization's disciplinary status, such as violating provisions of the Student Code of Conduct.
Probation - Groups can be placed on probation for a number of reasons, including, but not limited to behavioral violations, such as hazing or providing alcohol to minors (depending on severity); non-compliance with University regulations; or failure of an officer to remain enrolled at the University. These groups have limited access to benefits, as determined by the OSA and terms of the probationary status.
Suspension - A group can be suspended for a variety of reasons, including, but not limited to behavioral violations such as hazing or providing alcohol to minors (depending on severity), repeated violations, or non-compliance with policies, guidelines, or terms of probation. These groups do not have access to any student group benefits and are not "in good standing" with the University.
