A Spencer Student Recreation Center membership is not required, but you must be a part of the Western Illinois University community.

FREE! Fitness Assessment

The purpose of a Fitness Assessment is to let you know where you rank in your age group for overall health and fitness.

  • Appointments available during Spencer Student Recreation Center regular hours, please register and you will be contacted to schedule an appointment.
  • Plan to set aside 30 minutes to one hour for your assessment.
  • Avoid exercise at least 24 hours before your appointment.
  • Avoid drinking caffeine the day of your appointment as it raises your heart rate.
  • Wear comfortable athletic attire and tennis shoes.
  • Meet your trainer in the Oasis area by the Front Desk at the time of your appointment.
  • List of possible assessments: three-minute step test, resting heart rate, body fat, height and weight, circumference measurements, push-up test, curl-up test, sit and reach, and bench press.

FREE! Introduction to Cardio and Weight Equipment

The purpose of the introduction to cardio and weight equipment is to familiarize patrons of the recreation center with the CYBEX weight equipment and the cardio machines on the track level.

 Appointments available during Spencer Student Recreation Center regular hours, please register and you will be contacted to schedule an appointment.

  • Free-weight training is not included in the Introduction.
  • Plan to set aside 30 minutes to one hour for your Introduction.
