Program Details
General: You are REQUIRED to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate in this program. Proof of vaccination will be required prior to WIU registration. Bayreuth is a city about four times the size of Macomb, and prides itself on being a clean, safe, and walkable/bikable area. Bayreuth University has earned an international reputation for its uniquely interdisciplinary approach to research and teaching. One thing that makes this school special is their comprehensive Institute for African Studies.
Semester Program: Students can participate in a semester or full academic year exchange at Bayreuth where they will have opportunities to take coursework in English in a variety of disciplines.
Summer Program: The Bayreuth International Summer school takes place the first 2 weeks of July.
Housing and Meals: BCU has housing available in student dormitories and shared or private apartments. More information about housing and meals can be found here.
Entry Requirements: US citizens do not need a visa to enter Germany but will apply for a residence permit after arrival.
Health Insurance: It is a university policy that all WIU students who study abroad are either covered under WIU student health insurance OR have purchased the Patriot Travel Medical Insurance plan through IMG.
