Leadership Role Descriptions

President

  • The President shall have the duty and responsibility for the effective an efficient administration of the affairs of WIU-QC SGA and the leadership of the WIU-QC Student Body.
  • The President shall serve as the duly elected representative of the student body of the WIU-QC Student Body whenever necessary and shall be the officer primarily responsible for Academic Affairs.
  • The President of WIU-QC SGA shall serve as the Chairperson of the Senate and conduct General and Special Sessions of the Assembly.
  • The President shall be responsible for the assembly of an official Administration Record at the close of the Administration.
  • Individual may not serve as an elected official in any other WIU-QC-affiliated student organization.

Vice President

  • The Vice President shall perform the duties and exercise the powers delegated to him/her by the President. The Vice President shall succeed the President upon the inability of the President to perform his/her duties.
  • The Vice President shall be the officer concerned specifically with student affairs issues at the WIU-QC and have the duties and powers prescribed by law.
  • Individual may not serve as an elected official in any other WIU-QC-affiliated student organization.

Chief of Staff

  • The Chief of Staff shall serve as the Clerk of the Senate and will be responsible for recording the minutes for Senate proceedings.
  • The Chief of Staff of WIU-QC SGA shall be the officer concerned specifically with the internal affairs of WIU-QC SGA, and shall have the duties and powers prescribed by law.
  • The Chief of Staff of the WIU-QC SGA shall be the officer concerned specifically with the relations of WIU-QC SGA to the Quad City Community and overall WIU-QC SGA public relations and have the duties and powers prescribed by law.
  • Individual may not serve as an elected official in any other WIU-QC-affiliated student organization.

Attorney General

  • The Attorney General shall be responsible for reviewing all existing legislation and, when deemed necessary, recommend to the Senate any appropriate changes in legislation and interpret the Constitution when called upon to do so.
  • Assist in the negotiation and preparation of contracts entered into by WIU-QC SGA.

Comptroller

  • The Comptroller shall maintain WIU-QC SGA fiscal accounts and order payments into and out of such accounts. He/she shall serve as the officer specifically concerned with financial issues at the WIU-QC campus and have the duties and powers prescribed by law.
  • The Comptroller shall also serve as chair of Student Activity Fund and Student Welfare Council.
  • The Comptroller shall be responsible for the creation of the WIU-QC SGA budget for submission to the Student Activity Fund and Student Welfare Council.
  • Individual may not serve as an elected official in any other WIU-QC-affiliated student organization.

Senator

  • Non at-large Senators (both a graduate and a undergraduate students from the Colleges of Education, Arts & Sciences, Business & Technology, the Board of Governors – maximum of 7 individuals) serve as a liaison between their particular constituency (College) and the WIU-QC SGA, providing timely reports to the President, forwarding amendments, and voting on actions.
  • At-large Senators (maximum of 3 individuals) serve as a liaison between the entire student body and the WIU-QC SGA, providing timely reports to the President, forwarding amendments, and voting on actions.
