Important Map Grant Information
The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) is suspending the announcement of 2014-15 Monetary Award Program (MAP) grants for all students whose initial 2014-15 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is received by the Central Processing System (CPS) on or after Friday, February 28, 2014.
Beginning Saturday, March 1, 2014, MAP records in suspense status will:
* be reflected in the MAP component of the ISAC Gift Assistance Programs (GAP) Access portal;
* how on the appropriate screens and reports; and,
* appear in the MAP Eligibility File Extraction.
The February 28 suspension date is the result of continuing state budget difficulties and an unprecedented number of early applicants. A 5 percent reduction factor, which was approved for the 2014-15 MAP start-up formula at the January 30 Commission meeting, allowed for the processing of more applications than would have been possible had awards not been reduced. For a history of recent MAP formula changes and initial suspense dates, see Table 3 of Agenda Item 4 from the January 30 Commission meeting.
