Majors - Accelerated and Integrated Programs
An Accelerated Baccalaureate degree program allows a student to complete a Bachelor's degree in as little as 3 years.
Accelerated Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration (RPTA)
WIU-QC currently offers the Accelerated major in Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration which includes 3 tracks that allow students to complete their Associate and Bachelor degrees in as little as 3 years. Students who already have an Associates degree can complete their Bachelors in as little as 16 months. See more about RPTA accelerated programs.
An Integrated Baccalaureate and Master’s degree program provides the opportunity for outstanding undergraduates to earn both degrees in five years. Typically, a baccalaureate degree requires four years to complete and a master’s degree requires an additional two years. However, the integrated degree programs are intended to be accomplished over a period of five years. In addition to earning both degrees a year early, the integrated programs may include additional opportunities to participate in a variety of experiential educational activities such as a master’s project or thesis.
Integrated MBA Programs
The Integrated MBA programs at WIU give students the opportunity to complete their undergraduate degree AND earn the graduate degree that is a recognized credential among employers: the MBA – all in five years.
An integrated degree program is a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree that fit seamlessly together so that both can be completed in a five year time period, saving a student both time and money. It allows students to start taking graduate courses during the senior year and counting some of those courses towards both their bachelor’s degree and towards a master’s degree.
Integrated BLAS/MLAS Program
The integrated Baccalaureate and Master’s degree program (IBMP) in Liberal Arts and Sciences provides an opportunity for outstanding undergraduate liberal arts and sciences majors to complete both bachelor and master of liberal arts and sciences (BLAS and MLAS) degrees in five years. This interdisciplinary program promotes an advanced level of critique, analysis, and comparison across disciplines; students explore the broad questions faced by human beings, as well as the specific means by which individual disciplines in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics have addressed these questions.
Integrated Baccalaureate/Masters in Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration (RPTA)
and Museum Studies (MST)
The Integrated Baccalaureate/Masters in Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration (RPTA) and Museum Studies (MST) is a unique interdisciplinary program that allows students to complete both a Bachelors and a Masters degree in only five years. Once accepted into the MA Museum Studies program, RPTA senior undergraduate students take nine semester-hours (3 classes) that count toward both the RPTA undergraduate and MST graduate degrees. This professional preparation program prepares students for rewarding careers in the growing fields of museum work and cultural recreation.
