Photo of J. Michael Huston.J. Michael Houston was appointed to the Western Illinois University Board of Trustees in May 1997. Until February 2009 he held the positions of Chairman, President, and C.E.O. of the Town & Country Bank of Springfield. In February 2009 he retired from the bank and was named Chairman Emeritus. Prior to that he served for approximately 16 years at Bank One, Illinois NA as a Senior Vice-President and was responsible for the Investment Management Group in central Illinois. He served as the mayor of Springfield from 1979 to 1987.

A Springfield native, Houston is the Chairman of the Board of both St. John’s Hospital and the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the Board of Directors of Downtown Springfield, Inc., the Quantum Growth Partnership, the Heritage Foundation, and the Abraham Lincoln Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and his MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana.
