Why Join the PC Prep Program

Participating in WIU’s Peace Corps Prep Program offers students an opportunity to enhance their educational experience in preparation for life and service in an international setting. PC Prep staff will monitor progress and answer questions throughout the process.

Align coursework relevant to international service/work:

  • Pursue classes to prepare you for service in one of Peace Corps’ six program areas:
    • Education
    • Health
    • Environment
    • Agriculture
    • Youth in Development
    • Community Economic Development

Develop relevant skills to become an effective volunteer/community leader:

    • Participate in training and activities that will build your capacity to lead projects

Enhance your education with hands-on experiences:

    • Study abroad, complete an internship, or participate in community-service projects

Study a foreign language

Meet recently returned Peace Corps volunteers (RPCVs) and learn about their service experience

Talk with a campus-based Peace Corps recruiter

Earn a certificate of completion from the Peace Corps
