Judy John, assistant director of the University Union recently was presented with the Council of Administrative Personnel (COAP) Employee of the Year award by Western Illinois University President Donald Spencer.

"I am delighted that Judy has been selected to receive this distinction. She works very hard to ensure that programs and services that are delivered by the University Union are first rate," said Garry Johnson, vice president for student services.

Johnson said that John has maintained a key link between the University and the community by serving as a University representative for the annual Macomb Balloon Rally.

Some of her accomplishments include coordinating the turn-around of the Centennial finale from the Sherman Hall lawn to the University Union Grand Ballroom due to inclement weather, coordinating Board of Trustees meetings, Family Weekend events, the Performing Arts Gala, the Madrigal Dinner and much more. Additionally, John serves as chairperson for the WIU Sexual Harassment Task Force, is on the Board of Directors for the Macomb Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and is involved with the Western Illinois Credit Union.

COAP represents 240 administrators at WIU, with membership on the main campus in Macomb as well as the University’s Regional Center in the Quad Cities.
