H1N1 Nasal Spray Clinic Nov. 10

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University's Beu Health Center will offer an additional H1N1 nasal spray flu vaccine clinic from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10 in the University Union Lincoln Room; however, the vaccine will be administered only to healthy WIU students, faculty and staff who are not pregnant and who meet the following requirements:

* Healthcare/EMS workers who are under 50 years of age.

* Persons who care for a child under six months of age.
and are under 50 years of age

* Persons 18-24 years of age.

According to Beu Health Center Director Mary Margaret Harris, the nasal vaccine cannot be administered to persons 50 years or older, pregnant women or to individuals with chronic long-term health condition such as asthma, heart disease, kidney/liver disease or diabetes.

Qualifying individuals must present a current WIU ID. The nasal-spray vaccine, which is offered at no cost, will be provided on a first come, first served basis.

Beu Health Center anticipates shipment of H1N1 influenza vaccines, in shot form, later this fall.
